The inappropriate way Hollywood stars are role models.

From a Christian perspective, the way Hollywood stars are often presented as role models is deeply troubling. While fame and talent are not sinful in themselves, the culture surrounding celebrity frequently promotes values that conflict with biblical teaching. Many stars are admired not for their character, humility, or service to others, but for wealth, physical appearance, self-indulgence, and moral rebellion. When such lifestyles are celebrated, they subtly teach that success is measured by popularity and pleasure rather than faithfulness and righteousness.

Scripture reminds believers that “people look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 1 6:7). Yet Hollywood culture focuses almost entirely on outward image, scandal, and personal freedom without accountability. Behaviors such as sexual immorality, substance abuse, pride, and disrespect for authority are often normalized or even glamorized. This can mislead young people, shaping their desires and beliefs in ways that draw them away from Christ.

Christians are called to follow Jesus, not celebrities. True role models reflect the fruits of the Spirit—love, self-control, humility, and faith (Galatians 5:22—23). While Hollywood stars may entertain, they should not define moral standards. Believers must teach discernment, encouraging others to look to Christ and godly examples rather than a culture that often rewards sin and calls it success.
